TOEFL TOEIC and IELTS Prep Courses Offered

Students can now take TOEFL, TOEIC and IELTS Prep courses online or at our select labs to help prepare them to pass the TOEFL test, TOEIC test and IELTS test. The Institute of American English Language (IAEL) is now providing prep courses to enable students to prepare for these three major tests.

International students and workers must take standardized English tests to study at educational institutions, or for employment purposes. There are three major tests that universities and employers use worldwide. They are the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) and the International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS).

You might be wondering which test a student should take. This will depend on which school the student is applying to and which country the student is going to. Generally speaking, the IELTS is used in the U.K., Australia and Canada. Whereas the TOEFL is used in the U.S.

TOEIC Tests Communication in the Workplace

TOEIC measures the daily English skills of people in the workplace. Companies sometimes use the TOEIC to measure progress in English training programs. They also use it to consider employees for placement at the right level in language programs. According to ETS, the maker of the TOEIC test, about 14,000 organizations in 150 countries use the TOEIC.

TOEFL Tests English Used in the Classroom

Most people only know one TOEFL test, but there are several versions of the TOEFL

  • the Internet-based TOEFL, or TOEFL IBT, is taken on a computer
  • the paper-based TOEFL
  • TOEFL Junion test is for young people between 11 and 15 years old
  • TOEFL Primary test for those over the age of eight

IELTS tests academic and general language skills

IELTS tests students listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in English. Although both the TOEFL and IELTS test a student’s ability in reading, speaking, writing and listening, there are some differences in the tests. The speaking section in the IELTS and TOEFL are different. On the IELTS the student has a face-to-face interview with a certified examiner. On the TOEFL IBT, a student listens to a situation and records their response using a computer.
